What we catch

  • Mahi-mahi Hawaiian name: mahimahi

Also called dorado or dolphinfish (no relation to dolphins), it's a fast, acrobatic fighter that flashes green, gold and blue.

  • Yellowfin tuna Hawaiian name: ʻahi

A powerful, hard-pulling tuna with long yellow fins, prized in Hawaii for poke and sashimi.

  • Pacific blue marlin Hawaiian name: ʻaʻu (sold in Hawaii as kajiki)

The heavyweight of Hawaiian big-game fishing, famous for long runs and spectacular jumps.

  • Sailfish Hawaiian name: ʻaʻu lepe

Known for its tall, sail-like dorsal fin and long bill, and a less common catch in Hawaiian waters, which makes every one special.

What's biting depends on the season and conditions.

Oahu coastline

Kaʻena Point Natural Area Reserve

Cruise to Kaʻena Point, the westernmost point of Oahu, where the roads end and a wild, protected coastline begins. The point is a Natural Area Reserve with no road around it, so the water is a beautiful way to take in its rugged shoreline, pale sand dunes and the Waiʻanae Mountains rising behind.

  • See Oahu's rugged, roadless western tip from the water
  • You may spot Hawaiian monk seals and seabirds, including nesting Laysan albatross
  • Seasonal: in winter, humpback whales frequent the waters around the point
  • We enjoy the reserve from the boat and keep a respectful distance from all wildlife

Hunter with an axis deer on Molokai
Long-range fish & hunt

Molokai Fish & Hunt

Fish your way across the Kaiwi Channel to Molokai, then trade the rods for a day ashore hunting axis deer with a local guide. We pull into Molokai harbor, where the guide picks the group up and heads for a valley on a remote part of the island that's home to a herd of axis deer. Along the way you'll stop at the guide's off-grid family farm, about 40 acres of bananas, coconuts, mangoes and other fruit trees, to load up on fresh fruit. Then it's back to the boat, and the lines go back in for more fishing.

  • Lines out on the run from Honolulu to Molokai
  • Pull into Molokai harbor and head ashore with a local guide
  • A guided axis deer hunt in a remote Molokai valley
  • Load up on bananas, coconuts, mangoes and other fresh fruit at an off-grid family farm
  • Island treats to take home when available, such as deer jerky, coconut candy, dried banana and macadamia nuts
  • Back aboard to keep fishing
